Based on Plato's allegory of The Cave, the design of subSTRATA is meant to evoke an organically shaped environment with inorganic materials,
mirroring Chad's powerful, mechanical choreography. The panels were constructed from raw steel and hardware cloth, as if a cave were formed from a chain-link fence.

Limited by space overhead and set-up time, the panels were rigged to fold into immense cavernous shapes once onstage.

The set and piece are now touring around the Los Angeles area with Multiplex Dance.
